MANDATORY ANNUAL INSPECTION to CSA STANDARDS

Some lifting equipment operations require use dozens, even hundreds of times a day. This degrades the quality of the equipment.

Therefore, tests, inspections and certifications of this equipment are essential to protect the health and safety of its users.

A thorough mechanical inspection must be performed every 12 months according to CSA standards. A record is then issued for the lifting equipment and all accessories used to lift people.

MANDATORY STRUCTURAL INSPECTION to CSA STANDARDS

The structural inspection ensures that the components and stability of the lifting equipment comply with the standards in effect at the time of manufacture. This inspection must be performed after any incident that could potentially affect the stability of the equipment such as: an electrical shock, an impact overload, a collision, a loss of stability, etc.

It must be supervised by a meticulous engineerto meet the necessary safety standards. An official report will be submitted and filed in the equipment's black box.

Since January 1st, 2003, the requirement for equipment to be complying is:

- 10 years after the date of manufacture of new equipment and every 5 years thereafter.

- 5 years on used equipment and every 5 years thereafter.
